D&G Men’s Summer 2010

17 08 2009

It looks as if D&G has taken inspiration from the wild west in their summer 2010 collection. We see brown leather belts, plaid shirts, and rustic studded denim. It may sound a little trite and over used, but I think that this is a much fresher, cleaner take on cowboy chic.

First, we have a studded denim jacket. I think that they really pulled this one off. It was a tough task, but I think it was executed quite nicely. Granted, I wouldn’t wear this, but I still appreciate it.

Next, it’s the return of leather pants! There are so many issues with leather pants, but you know what, they’re Dolce. So, for some reason they look good. Perhaps its because they’re on this model. But, I’m not appaled by them, so I guess we’ll keep them.

This leather jacket is to die for! Its not the ugly leather jacket that the douche bag that went to your high school wore. It’s fitted in all the right places, without being too feminine. The snap and zipper pockets are just enough without being too gaudy, and the slightly distressed leather gives that rugged look. This jacket is a definite winner!

Next, we dress it up a little with this 3-piece camel-colored suit. The six-button vest really pulls in the western theme, but still keeps it fashionable. There isn’t much to say. This is just a great suit with a little bit of a fun twist. Great look!

Lastly, we have a bit of a trainwreck. I’m not trying to offend anyone, or discredit D&G’s design genius. I just don’t think the ensemble works together. The shirt is pretty loud on its own, but when you put it with the destroyed, rolled up jeans AND the tall leather boots, it’s just too much. I’m sure all these pieces are just fine on their own, but together… not so much.

These are all just my personal opinions. I am by no means a fashion professional, I just know what I like and what I don’t. Feel free to tell me how you feel about anything I’ve said. I appreciate any constructive criticism.
